Missions Minute - Web Links

During this Missions Month at Christ UMC, we have heard and read about a number of the ministries and missionaries that we support.  Has this focus left you with questions about missions like what is the church doing and what can you do? If so, here are some resources on the Web that may help shed some light on various aspects of missions.

www.askamissionary.com -- Focused on long-term missions, this site offers 300 answers to 50 different common questions on mission agencies, raising support, training, professional skills, and more.

www.christianmissions.net -- Sponsored by SIM USA and SIM International, this site lists other Christian missions Web sites, links to mission agencies, colleges and universities that offer missions courses, and live mission chats.

www.gmi.org/ow -- The primary purpose of the Operation World site is enlisting Christians to pray. Each day, the site highlights the prayer needs of a different country.

www.joshuaproject.net -- This site largely focuses on people groups, highlighting the groups of the world that have the least Christian presence.

www.missionaryresources.org -- The Missionary Resources Center is a site provided by Emercy where missionaries and other users can find articles, links, books, videos, and discussions for a wide variety of missions resources, supplies, and gear.

www.missionfinder.org -- This site offers listings of resources for missions, particularly focusing on the areas of housing, retreats, medical equipment, health care, finances and support, and other topics.

www.mnnonline.org -- The site of Mission Network News is dedicated to keeping Christians informed of mission activity around the world.

www.shorttermmissions.com -- This site provides details on more than 560 short-term mission trips (ranging from one week to three years), offered by 62 organizations.

www.urbana.org -- This extensive site featuring InterVarsity's Urbana mission conferences for college students and young adults is a great place to learn about global missions and to be challenged by the world's needs.

www.uscwm.org -- The U.S. Center for World Mission also focuses on ensuring that distinct people groups of the world are "reached."

www.gbgm-umc.org -- If you would like to learn more about the worldwide missions efforts of the United Methodist Church this website (of the General Board of Global Ministries) has detailed information on a wide variety of outreach, relief, and justice ministries.

Did you know . . .?
In a survey of more than 3,000 teenagers about short-term mission service

-- 18% have completed two or more missions trips or service projects.
-- 10% have done three or more mission trips or service projects.
