We're in the middle of VBS week at the
church and each evening has been a reminder to me of the many reasons I
am blessed to be a part of this church family. Every night has been full
of God-sightings that just leave me speechless.
Each night more and more children have come
to enjoy the activities we've prepared for them. With the new faces
we've seen tonight we've been blessed with over 70 smiling faces. When
we gather together to sing at the beginning and end of the night they
are singing at the top of their lungs, doing the motions for each song
and reciting each night's Bible treasure verse. There is joy
everywhere!
Each evening so many of you have come by
that it's been a challenge to put all of those hands to work (Janet's
managed though). Monday night there were members of our church family
everywhere - helping register children, helping new families get
familiar with the church, and pitching in wherever they were needed.
Tuesday and Wednesday were the same. It was heartening to see our church
family come together and serve.
Each night we've also had a lot of time for
prayer. When we hear that someone's home from the hospital we pray
prayers of thanksgiving. When we hear that someone in the hospital is
during worse we prayer prayers for healing. We've simply gathered
together those who are available and we stop in the hallway or in a
classroom to pray.
Monday evening I met one of our long-time
neighbors (she lives across the street). She said, "It's so
exciting. Your church does so much for the children, I think it's
wonderful." She's right, it's pretty wonderful. Not just because of
these great kids, but because of what God does in the lives of the youth
and adults here as well.
It's been a great week so far and it's just
barely half over. I can't wait to see what God has in store for the rest
of the week. God is up to something great!
