WELCOME TO CHRIST
UMC!
| Getting
to Know Us |
| Our
motto at Christ UMC
is “building the family of Christ." We feel called to share
with all we can the blessings of being an active part of a healthy family
in Christ.
We invite all those we
touch to join the family of Christ by beginning a loving relationship with
Him. The Scripture says that “to as many as received Him to them
He gave the right to become children of God.” We stress the
continued fostering of this relationship through the practice of the
spiritual disciplines such as Bible reading, prayer, worship, tithing,
witness and service. We intentionally encourage and build one
another up in Christ within our local church family and in our family at
home. It is our prayer that will become known for how deeply and
practically we love one another and the world.
Yours in Christ,
John

Who We Are
"Over all these virtues put on love,
which binds them together in perfect unity." Col. 3:14
People at Christ Church come from all types of family and church backgrounds. We are
united by our love for Jesus Christ and for each other, and we seek to work together in
harmony to reach others with Christs love. Since forming in 1987, we have been
seeking to be an accepting and supportive family in Christ.

Worship
Sunday
morning worship begins at
10:30 AM. Biblical preaching and contemporary praise-filled worship
is central to the service. Signing for the deaf is available
upon request.
|
Education
Sunday adult classes at 9:00 AM offer teaching
and discussion on everyday life issues important to Christians. We
take growing in Christ seriously, so our excellent teachers offer a range
of topics for your choice.
Interpreters for the deaf are available for Sunday school classes.
|
Children
There are
lots of children to love at Christ Church.
An age-graded Sunday School program for all ages is held
at 9:00 AM in our Education Building.
Childrens Church for children ages 4 - 8 is held during the worship
service.
This allows children to attend a portion of the service with their parents while
not requiring them to sit through a
sermon designed for youth and adults.
Nursery is available for children 3 and younger in the Education Building, and is staffed
with volunteers from 8:50 to 11:45 AM.
During the worship service, there is a
special children’s message. Pastor John's Children's Sermons are a
highlight of Sunday worship.

Missions
Our
very active Missions Committee uses their budget to support Christ’s
work locally and globally. Members
of our Body have served with missions on five continents. The people
of Christ UMC are around the world and just next door; serving the Lord
and answering God’s call. |
Youth
Our energetic
youth ministry helps our youth discover both the joy and the meaning of being a follower
of Jesus. Our Middle High and
Senior High Sunday school classes and Youth groups have excellent adult leadership and are well attended by teens
who are enthusiastic and friendly. Our
youth have gone on mission trips to Kentucky, South Carolina, Michigan,
West Virginia and Pennsylvania. They have also taken trips to Impact,
Alive, Creation and other fun places! |
Small Groups
Small Groups
are a big part of the Christ UMC experience. A wide variety of Bible studies,
support groups, and Bible-based topical studies are offered throughout the week to
individuals, couples, youth, and families. Our
entire congregation meets in shepherding or Koinonia groups to disciple,
support, and nurture one another. Fellowship in these groups is
genuine, friendly, and supportive. |
| Our
Mission
We are building the family of Christ, a community who lives a life of love
just as Christ loves us. As followers of Christ we:
Worship God as the Father, Son and
Holy Spirit,
Share God's love with the community and the world,
Build
Godly relationships,
Grow to be more like Christ through discipleship,
Serve actively in the church,
... All to the Glory of God!
Our Vision
The Great Commission:
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in
the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching
them to obey everything I have commanded you."
- Matthew 28: 19-20
The Great Commandment:
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and
with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment."
- Matthew 22: 37-38
Our
Actions
And what does all that mean?
We build by:
- Welcoming others.
We want to invite others to experience the Jesus Christ that we know:
savior, friend, confidant, guide, and healer. That invitation begins
at home but extends around the world to encompass all God’s people.
- Devoting ourselves to our own
discipleship.
We take growth in Christ seriously. We believe that the health and
vitality of our personal families and our church family begins with
faithful practice of the spiritual disciplines (fasting, prayer,
study, tithing, worship).
We want to be a family:
- That loves.
Jesus said that others will know that we are His followers by our
love for one another. We care about one another. We give one another
grace and support. We pray for one another. We live life together –
as a family.
- That gathers.
We believe that being together often is essential to our family’s
health. We place a priority on worship, Sunday school, small groups,
service and prayer.
Simply put, we want to share with all we
can, the blessings of being an active part of a healthy family in Christ. |
| CHRIST UMC Missions
Missions
at Christ UMC are ministries outside of our congregation on local, national and
international levels to fulfill the Great Commission. We do this in
a variety of ways: evangelism, discipleship, church development, education
and the direct participation of our members. Additionally, we
embrace the opportunity to minister to members of our church family on spiritual, emotional and
financial levels and building the family of Christ in order to take Christs message
to the world (I Tim. 5).
